The Midland County Sheriff's Department says they rushed to the playground at Airline Mobile Home Park after they got a call about a 9-year-old boy hanging from a garden hose.
"Dispatch was on the 911 phone call with an adult female giving instructions on CPR," said Sheriff Gary Painter.
That adult was the boy's aunt who lives across from the playground.
She says she frantically ran to the scene when she found out what happened.
And while family members did not want to go on camera, they tell us the garden hose has been tied at the playground for years.
"We don't suspect foul play because there were only kids out there playing, and the younger ones were not criminally involved," stated Sheriff Painter.
With foul play and bullying ruled out, police are calling this "an unattended death" while they wait for autopsy results to come back.
But either way, Sheriff Painter says this tragedy weighs heavy on everyone involved.
"In the minds of the younger kids that were there, it will be in their minds for the rest of their life," said Sheriff Painter. "It'll be sad."
Out of respect for the family Big2 is not releasing the boy's name.
Sheriff Painter says this is still under investigation while they wait for the autopsy to be completed.
