MIDLAND -- Christmas For Our Troops is preparing to send more than 2,000 care packages to service members serving overseas.

On Tuesday, the non-profit organization unloaded an 18-wheeler full of items that will be packed up and sent to military men and women deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq.

Christmas For Our Troops founder Scott Davis says it's important that our military members are remembered over the holiday season.

"I think now, when these men and women are away from home in the most passionate time, in terms of holidays, of the year; I think it's really important that we let those men and women understand that they've not been forgotten, that they're still loved and cared for," Davis told Big 2.

Christmas For Our Troops will hold its annual pack up event from 12 PM to 3 PM on December 5th at the First Presbyterian Church in Midland.

The care packages are scheduled to be shipped on December 7th. Organizers say they should arrive in Afghanistan no later than December 17th.
