Volunteers for the non-profit organization Christmas For Our Troops packed up the care packages at the First Presbyterian Church in Midland on Wednesday.
Other volunteers also packed up boxes in Odessa.
The boxes have more than 24 items -- including snacks, DVD's, foot powder and hand written notes of encouragement.
The boxes are meant to bring a little piece of home to American military men and women who are deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq over the holidays.
"Look at the smiles on the faces of the people that are working," Christmas For Our Troops founder Scott Davis told Big 2. "I think that really explains what this means and how important it is. There's a lot of happy people here getting ready to start Christmas, and start Christmas for a lot of men and women who otherwise might not have a Christmas in Afghanistan."
The care packages are scheduled to be shipped by December 7th. The packages should arrive in Afghanistan by December 17th.
