MIDLAND -- A Kermit woman is accused of crashing a car into a police cruiser at the Midland International Airport while she was allegedly high on prescription drugs.

Midland Police say that Sherrie Whiddon Carter was driving a silver 1996 Lincoln Towncar by the airport around 2:40 PM Wednesday when she suddenly veered onto the sidewalk in front of the airport terminal.

Carter's car reportedly smashed into 4 signs in the area and nearly hit several people on the sidewalk.

The mayhem ended when the car smashed into an unoccupied Midland Police vehicle.

Luckily, no one was injured in the incident.

However, police reportedly found out that Carter, 61, was high on prescription narcotics at the time of the crash.

Carter is now charged with D.W.I. (second incident).

Carter also got a ticket for driving on a sidewalk.

As of Wednesday evening, Carter was being held in the Midland County Detention Center on $500 bond.
