MIDLAND -- Recent reports of scammers claiming to be part of ONCOR and demanding money have been reported in Texas.

Because of these scams, It's good to make sure people that claim to be from the power utility really are.

ONCOR employees will never stop by your home in person asking for payment.

If you are expecting an ONCOR employee to perform service, you can ask them to verify their identification.

All ONCOR employees have official I.D. badges, and so do any contractors working for the utility.

Most employees also have branded uniforms and vehicles.

If you don't feel safe, make sure you lock your door and call 911.
