President Obama and House Speaker John Boehner met Thursday for their first face to face talk in four days.

Reporters caught up with Boehner as he returned to his office on Capitol Hill.

He met with President Obama just hours after claiming the president had failed to offer a serious compromise to prevent the fiscal cliff's automatic tax hikes and spending cuts.

That's set to take effect in less than three weeks.

A spokesman for Boehner released a statement saying the 50 minute meeting was "frank" and the "lines of communication remain open."
