A strong upper level system is approaching from the west which will give us a very windy day, clouds and the chances for showers this afternoon.

Moisture at the surface has been on the increase and that coupled with plenty of mid level moisture and lift the chances for showers and thunderstorms to develop exists with any rain activity to be light and fast moving.

Strong winds are expected through the day with a High Wind Warning and Wind Advisory in effect.  The High Wind Warning is in effect from 9am CST to 9pm CST for Eddy County Plains, Northern and Central Lea County, Van Horn and the Highway 54 Corridor, Reeves County and the Marfa Plateau.  West/southwest winds will be between 34 and 45 mph with gusts to 65mph.  The Wind Advisory is in effect from 12pm CST to 6pm CST for Southern Lea County, Gaines, Dawson, Borden, Andrews, Martin, Howard, Loving, Winkler, Ector, Midland, Ward, Crane, Upton and Pecos Counties.
