9/11 First Responder More at Risk for Cancer

A new Ground Zero health study concludes that rescue and recovery workers who
toiled at the World Trade Center in the aftermath of 9-11have a higher risk of
prostate and thyroid cancers.
Rescue and recovery workers also have a heightened risk of multiple myeloma, a blood cancer.
No increased risk for residents and others near the ground zero site was found.
The study was extensive, looking at nearly 56-thousand people from 2003 to 2008.
