ROSWELL, NM -- Roswell (NM) Police have arrested two persons of interest in a shooting that took the life of a Denver City man last week.

Police arrested Luis Jimenez and Joseph Barnhill on December 17th.

Jimenez, 22, and Barnhill, 25, are charged with aggravated burglary in connection with a December 5th burglary.

Officers say that the men broke into a home in the 400 block of South Missouri Avenue and took $6,700, an AR-15 and other items.

Police believe the men might have broken into a home in the 1400 block of West 3rd Street around 2:05 PM on December 11th.

A Denver City man who was staying at the home at the time -- Saul Sanchez -- reportedly walked in on the burglary and confronted a burglar.

Police say the burglar then shot and killed Sanchez.

Police are still investigating the burglary that claimed Sanchez's life, and they haven't charged Jimenez and Barnhill for the shooting.

As of Thursday afternoon, Jimenez and Barnhill were being held in the Chaves County (NM) Detention Center on $50,000 bond each.
