Crash Damages Overpass, Closes Interstate 20 Near Midland

MIDLAND -- A crash on the west side of Midland damages an overpass and shuts down the interstate.
A big rig hauling a crane hit the overpass that takes West Loop 250 over Interstate 20 around 2 PM Friday.
TXDOT had to shut down both eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 at West Loop 250 as they cleaned up the debris from the crash and assessed the damage to the overpass.
Eastbound traffic was being rerouted onto the service road in the area, which led to a major traffic jam.
Meanwhile, southbound traffic on the West Loop 250 overpass has been funneled down to one lane.
As of 4:50 PM Friday, TXDOT officials had no timeline for when the damaged overpass will be completely open to traffic again.
