New York Fire Marshals revealed what caused several fires sparked during Superstorm Sandy including the one that destroyed this Breezy Point neighborhood in October.

Officials say rising sea water made its way into the electrical system of a home in Queens.

First responders couldn't access the area because of severe flooding from the storm surge, allowing the fire to grow and burn for hours.

Strong winds helped it spread faster.

The fire burned for about ten hours.

By the time firefighters got it under control, more than a hundred homes were destroyed.
