Midland Fire Department Helps Hurricane Sandy Victims in New York

MIDLAND---The Midland Fire Department will be going to New York to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Three Midland Fire Department officials including, Battalion Chief, Vince Hancock, District Chief, Patrick Repman and Captain Terry Jones left for New York on Wednesday with the Lonestar Incident Management Team. 

The local fire officials  will help manage the National guard's relief efforts and assist New Yorkers by providing ready-to-eat meals, water, electric blankets, affordable heaters and wellness checks on those still in need.

A reported 11,000 people are still without power in New York. 

The Midland Fire Department officials will be returning back to Midland on January 17th.
