Damaged Loop 250 Overpass In Midland To Close For Inspections

MIDLAND -- A Midland overpass that was damaged by an oversized load last week will soon be completely shut down.
TXDOT crews will be closing the West Loop 250 overpass over Interstate 20 on Friday, December 28th -- as they inspect the damage from the December 21st accident.
Southbound Loop 250 traffic will be diverted onto the north service road of Interstate 20 in both the eastbound and westbound directions.
The eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 will also be closed at the damaged overpass.
Eastbound Interstate 20 traffic will be diverted around the overpass along the south Interstate 20 service road.
In order to help with traffic flow, traffic along South County Road 1270 will not be allowed onto the south Interstate 20 service road while the inspection is underway.
The inspection should be complete by midday on December 28th.
Department of Public Safety troopers and Midland Police will be on hand to help regulate traffic control and enforce traffic laws.
Meanwhile, the outside southbound lane of Loop 250 will be closed on the overpass after the inspection is complete.
The overpass will also have a weight limit of 10,000 pounds, which could keep several commercial vehicles from crossing it.
