Missing Man Case Turns Into Murder Investigation

ODESSA -- A missing person case is now being called a murder.

    Rene Escobar Sanchez  was reported missing by his wife back in July of 2008.

    Saturday, police arrested Jesus Miguel Venegas for the murder of Sanchez.

    Officers are not releasing any details on the arrest, only saying Venegas was the last person to see Sanchez, and this weekend "probably cause was established" to charge Venegas with murder.
   
    According to online records, Venegas is sitting in the Ector County Jail as of Sunday night.

SUMMARY:
On July 15, 2008, Rene Escobar Sanchez was reported missing by his wife, Ester Armendariz.  During the investigation to locate Sanchez, it was established that Miguel Venegas (08-02-86) was the last person to see Sanchez. Since the disappearance, detectives have continued their efforts to locate Sanchez. On January 5, 2013, probable cause was established to charge Miguel Venegas with the murder of Rene Sanchez.

This investigation is ongoing.
