The grisly details surrounding the mass shooting in Aurora, Colorado, could finally go public, this week.

Last July, a gunman entered this movie theater during a midnight screening of the Batman film, "The Dark Knight Rises."

He fired into the crowd, killing 12 people and injuring dozens of others.

Law enforcement sources said the gunman told police he was "the Joker," but details like that stopped flowing out when a judge issued a gag order.

Information blocked from the media could go public during a hearing that starts on Monday and should last several days.

The alleged gunman, now 25 year old James Holmes, faces 166 charges in the July 20 rampage, including numerous murder and attempted murder charges.

Prosecutors are expected to call scores of witnesses, this week, as they outline their evidence in the case.

Holmes's attorneys are expected to argue he has "diminished capacity."
