MIDLAND -- The City of Midland is preparing to take bids on the next phases of the Lamesa Road reconstruction project.

Construction crews spent most of 2012 replacing a water main under Lamesa Road.

Now, Midland officials are preparing to take bids for traffic light replacements at Golf Course Road and Cuthbert Avenue, along with new sidewalks between Wadley Avenue and Walnut Lane.

Bidding for both projects should begin later this month, and both projects should be underway in the spring.

Workers have already repaired and replaced some manhole covers.

An extensive rehabilitation of the wastewater main along Lamesa Road is expected to get underway at the same time that sidewalk repairs are going on.

Significant paving improvements are expected to begin later this year.
