MIDLAND -- A new Midland City Council has been sworn into office.

Three re-elected council members and a newly elected council member one were sworn-in on Monday morning at Midland City Hall.

Scott Dufford, Jerry Morales and Jeffery Sparks are all beginning their second terms on the council.

John Love was sworn in for his first term.

Love is filling the council seat that was held by Vicky Hailey's seat for the previous 3 terms.

The City of Midland honored Hailey -- who was first elected in 2003 -- on Monday.

"I just want to thank my constituents, friends, supporters, the city staff, because it takes more than one person to get things done," Hailey told Big 2. "And the south side -- particularly District 2 -- will always be of interest to me. Just because I'm not on the Midland City Council doesn't mean that I won't be an effective, driving force in our community."

Hailey declined to give any details about her future political ambitions.

Instead, she simply said, "The buck does not stop here."
