CROSBYTON -- An Amber Alert has been issued for a young South Plains girl.

Leah Marie Aguirre was last seen in Crosbyton on Thursday, January 3rd.

Aguirre, 2, is about 2'5" tall and she weighs 30 pounds.

Aguirre has brown hair and brown eyes.

Crosbyton Police believe that a man named "Miguel" might have posed as a Children's Protective Services agent to abduct Aguirre.

"[A guardian of Aguirre] told us that she had been approached at her residence on January 3rd of this year by an individual who claimed to be an agent with the Children's Protective Services," said Crosbyton Police Chief Greg Parrot. "And this individual indicated that he was there to now take full custody and control of baby Aguirre. The baby was relinquished to this individual, described as a male in his late 40's, early 50's."

"Miguel" reportedly has brown hair and brown eyes, and he might be driving a red Ford Focus.

Anyone who knows where Aguirre might be should call Crosbyton Police at (806) 368-1926.
