Midlanders Looking to Resolve Issue at 349 Ranch Estates

MIDLAND--- At around 11:00 AM on Tuesday morning, passionate business owners spoke with the Midland City Council in order to address the consideration of an ordinance vacating and abandoning a portion of right-of-way located at the 349 Ranch Estates in Midland.
This affects three business owners, Cliff Chalmers, Kenneth Gray and Kevin Wilton, who all own lots that could be affected by the right-of-way.
Gray is the owner of Northside Storage and says "I was trying to keep access to my storage units from an existing road maintained currently by the City of Midland".
That road being the right-of-way that runs parallel to Highway 349 in between Tejas and Arapahoe Road.
Chalmers is looking to purchase the right of way from the City of Midland in order to expand his lot.
"It joins property that we already own in order to increase the land mass and the land size" says Chalmers.
Gray says this will block access for his storage facility from Highway 349.
"I'm opposed to it because I think it denies me access" says Gray "if they cut access off I guess the storage units would be totally useless".
Kevin Wilton also owns a lot that would be affected and he is hoping that no changes will be made and that "everything would be left just like it is".
The Midland City Council decided to have all three owners come together on a solution and apply together at a later date.
