San Antonio Man Killed In Head-On Collision North Of Midland

MIDLAND COUNTY -- A San Antonio man is killed in a head-on collision north of Midland.

    Texas Department of Public Safety troopers tell Big 2 that Lance Howard Schneider of San Antonio was driving work truck east on Tom Craddick Highway (TX 349) near the intersection with Big Spring Street Tuesday afternoon when Schneider had some sort of medical issue and veered into the westbound lane of the highway.

    An oncoming tanker truck smashed into the work truck.

    Schneider, 50, died in the wreck.

    A passenger in the truck was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries.

    The driver of the tanker truck wasn't injured in the wreck.
 
    Martin County Sheriff's deputies, Midland Police, Midland firefighters and D.P.S. troopers responded to the crash.

    TXDOT workers had to close Tom Craddick Highway between Holiday Hill Road and Big Spring Street after the crash.

    The roadway re-opened around 5 PM Tuesday.
