Man Killed After Falling From Pulling Unit Near Jal, NM

LEA COUNTY, NM -- A Lovington, NM man dies after falling from an oilfield pulling unit near Jal, NM.

    Lea County Sheriff's deputies say that the fatal accident happened at an industrial site about 9 miles out of the intersection of Lea County Road 2 and NM 128 in Lea County, NM around 1 PM on January 10th.

    Deputies say that Mario Perez fell off of the floor of a pulling unit that was elevated 10 feet above ground level.

    Perez, 42, fell 10 feet and hit his head on a casing riser valve.

    Perez was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Lea County Sheriff's deputies don't anticipate that a criminal investigation will made in regards to Perez's death.
