Top GOP leaders are considering a short-term extension to the debt ceiling talks.
House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan says they are weighing the benefits of an extension as a way to get the Senate and White House engaged in future conversations.
This differs from their previous stance that any increase in the debt limit would have to include spending cuts.
Louisiana Representative John Fleming says most members are waiting to see complete details, but many conservatives are backing this plan.
He adds that the goal behind this decision is to keep the momentum for reaching a broader deal going.
