Midland MLK Center to Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day

MIDLAND -- The Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center in Midland will be celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with a community event.

Here's the full press release from the City of Midland:

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center will hold a celebration in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 21.

The day will include storytelling, refreshments provided by the City of Midland and Alpha Fraternity, and a community service event. Vendors will be present with exhibits and displays, and Midlander Sue Roseberry will entertain all ages with her storytelling.

The Center has partnered with Keep Midland Beautiful to coordinate a landscape clean-up at the MLK Complex as a community services event, which will kick off the day's festivities at 10 a.m.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Sue Roseberry at 685-3876.

Schedule of events:

10 a.m.: Landscape Clean-up at MLK Complex                    
11 a.m.: Storytelling w/Sue Roseberry
11 a.m. - noon: Vendors with exhibits and displays
Noon:  High Noon Free Throw and 3-Point Shoot Out
2 - 3:30 p.m.: "Our Friend Martin" Movie Screening

Food will be available from noon - 2 p.m.
