Terror Attacks in Algeria Includes Former Odessa Resident

ODESSA -- A former Odessan is one of seven American survivors of the hostage standoff at a natural gas complex in Algeria.

Reportedly Al-Qaida linked militants captured ten Texans last Wednesday at a natural gas plant in Ain Anemas, Algeria, killing at least two men from Texas.

Odessa resident, Bradley McDaniel was on the hostages who was able to make it out alive.

According to the social media sites LinkedIn and Facebook, McDaniel worked at British Petroleum(BP) as a Drilling Supervisor for the past 5 years in Anemas, Algeria.

Before that, he was reportedly a student at Texas Tech University for Mechanical Engineering, graduating in 2004.

According to the Obama Administration, three U.S. citizens were killed in the attack.

ABC News reports 37 civilian hostages were killed.

The State Department confirms gas workers, Victor Lynn Lovelady of Houston and Gordon Lee Rowan were killed in the Ain Anemas field in the Sahara.

U.S. officials identified Texas resident, Frederick Buttaccio as the first death last week.

BP also released a statement saying there was a terrorist attack on the site and at that time there were 18 employees involved.

The BP Press Office also told Big 2 that McDaniel is safe and now our of Algeria and does not wish to be contacted at this time.
