2 West Texans Killed In Triple Fatal Crash Near Cross Plains

CROSS PLAINS -- Two people from the Permian Basin are killed in a head-on collision in the Big Country.
The crash occurred along TX 36 near Cross Plains on January 28th.
Texas Department of Public Safety troopers say that Kevin P. Byrnes of Midland was driving a 2006 G.M.C. pickup truck when he went off the road, overcorrected, and crossed into oncoming traffic.
An oncoming pickup smashed into Byrnes' pickup truck.
Byrnes, 41, died in the crash.
A passenger in the G.M.C. pickup -- 26-year-old Brittany Elaine Underwood from Goldsmith -- was also killed.
The driver of the pickup truck that hit the G.M.C truck -- 64-year-old Steven Pickett -- also died on the scene.
