Mother Blames Husband For Odessa Child's Death

ODESSA -- An Odessa woman accused of murdering her own son says her husband is responsible for the child's death.
Jasmine Gabriella Olivas and Segundo M. Ramirez are charged with capital murder for the death of 3-year-old Omar Frias Jr. -- but Olivas reportedly told police that Ramirez likely caused the child's death.
Odessa Police say that Olivas, 20, and Ramirez, 23, seriously injured Frias in early January.
Officers say those injuries ultimately led to the child's death.
Olivas is the child's mother, while Ramirez is the child's stepfather.
According to arrest affidavits, Olivas told police that she left the child with Ramirez -- who's the boy's stepfather -- for an hour while she went to the store on January 10th.
When Olivas returned home, she said that Frias had bruises that were swelling before her eyes.
Frias was later rushed to Medical Center Hospital, after he passed out while vomiting.
Frias was treated at the hospital and then taken to Cook's Children's Hospital in Fort Worth.
However, Frias died at Cooks Children's Hospital on January 11th.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office performed an autopsy on the child's body on January 11th.
The autopsy determined that Frias died from blunt force trauma to the abdomen.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office later ruled Frias' death as a homicide, and Odessa Police opened up an investigation.
Olivas and Ramirez were then arrested on January 30th.
As of Friday afternoon, Olivas and Ramirez were being held in the Ector County Law Enforcement Center without a posted bond.
