MIDLAND -- A man accused of a 2011 Midland murder took the stand in his own trial on Friday.

Christopher M. Hill is facing murder charges for the shooting death of Jeremy Johnson.

Prosecutors say that Hill, 26, shot Johnson, 28, multiple times in Johnson's living room of Johnson's home at 911 North Weatherford Street on September 18, 2011.

Johnson was rushed to Midland Memorial Hospital after the shooting, but he didn't survive.

M.M.H. was also locked down after Johnson was admitted.

U.S. Marshals later arrested Hill at a motel in Seminole County, FL on September 29, 2011.

During testimony Friday, Hill said that he didn't mean to kill Johnson.

Hill added that he shot in Johnson's direction because he was worried that Johnson would shoot him

Hill further stated that Johnson was a violent man.

Hill also said that he was high on Oxycontin when police interviewed him on tape after his arrest in Florida, and he added that most of what he told law enforcement in that interview was a lie.

Meanwhile, witnesses say that Hill had the gun he allegedly used in the shooting weeks before it happened.

One witness even said that Hill used a hand gesture to threaten to shoot him while both were in the Midland County Detention Center.

Hill's trial will continue at 11 AM on February 4th.
