Missouri Man Arrested After High-Speed Chase In Mitchell County

MITCHELL COUNTY -- A Missouri man is behind bars in Mitchell County, after he led law enforcement on a high speed chase.

    Bigcountryhomepage.com reports that Kerry Wade Helstein led law enforcement on a high-speed chase along Interstate 20 in Mitchall County around 10 PM on February 3rd.

    Helstein  -- who was wanted on warrants out of Missouri -- reportedly ran away from the vehicle near the 202 mile marker.

    Mitchell County Sheriff's deputies found a woman in the vehicle Helsetin abandoned, and they arrested her on scene.

    A Mitchell County Sheriff's deputy suffered minor injuries in the incident, and that deputy was treated and released from an emergency room at a nearby hositpal.

    Authorities couldn't find Helstein in the moments after he ran from the vehicle, but they spotted him in the area around 10:15 AM Monday and arrested him

    Now, Helstein is charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer, evading arrest with a vehicle and outstanding warrants from Missouri.
