The Boy Scouts of America have decided to delay a vote on lifting the ban on gay.
Members of the organization's executive board say they need more time and more input.
The decision will now be made at their annual meeting in May.
Gay rights groups and other critics want the organization to lift the ban.
Some religious groups and conservatives say allowing gay members would destroy the organization by diluting the Boy Scout message of morality.
