The Big Bend Sentinel reports that preliminary autopsy results indicate that Clifford Kocher died from hypothermia.
Kocher, 58, also reportedly had a fractured right femur, which reportedly prevented him from moving to safety during freezing temperatures.
A snowstorm also swept through the area after Kocher was reported missing, and the snowfall could have helped lead to his demise.
Kocher's body was found in some rough terrain near Lajitas on January 12th.
The discovery came days after Kocher was reported missing (on January 3rd).
Kocher, 58, had rented a car, but the car was never returned.
After someone found the rental car in the Big Bend Ranch State Park, a search began for Kocher.
Some of Kocher's friends from Alpine reportedly round his body about 40 minutes from the car.
