MIDLAND -- A texting while driving simulator is helping drive home the dangers of texting and driving for West Texas teens.

AT&T is challenging teens to join its It Can Wait movement.

On Wednesday, AT&T brought a virtual reality texting and driving simulator to Midland High School

The simulator -- which was open to students and staff throughout the day -- allows users experience first-hand the dangers of texting and driving.

Meanwhile, a Midland High student involved in a recent real-life texting and driving accident says the experience can be sobering.

"Before I got into this accident, I thought I was invincible," Midland High senior Kayla Grant told Big 2. "I'd never get into a wreck, you know? When it finally did happen it only took a few seconds and it was a huge eye-opener. I realized, that even looking away for one second -- you're totally blind and you can get into a wreck with anyone. Luckily, I got out safely -- me and my family -- but it could have gotten one of us seriously injured."

Grant says she was just looking down at her phone for a second,  when she slammed into the back of another vehicle going about 35 miles per hour.

Grant says she hasn't texted while driving since the crash took place.
