ODESSA -- Odessa Police are looking for a man who attacked a security guard with an auto part.

Police say that a black man tried to steal parts out of a Chevrolet Blazer at Pete's Auto Sales (2629 East 8th Street) around 10 PM on February 5th.

A security guard reportedly caught the would-be thief in the act, but officers say the man started wrestling with the security guard.

At some point in the struggle, the would-be thief hit the security guard with a metal auto part and took off running east on 8th Street.

The security guard suffered a scratch on the side of his face and scraped knuckles.

Officers also say the would-be-thief caused about $1,500 to the Chevy Blazer's electrical wiring.

Police say that the would-be-thief is in his mid-20's.

Officers say that the man is about 5'9" tall, and he weighs about 170 pounds.

The robber was reportedly last seen wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans and white shoes.

Anyone with information on this incident should call Odessa Police at (432) 333-3641.
