Big Spring Man Accused Of Threatening Carhop, Crashing Into House

BIG SPRING -- A Big Spring man behind bars after a bizarre series of incidents that started with an attempted dine-and-dash and ended with him crashing into a house.

    LaPaul Eric Scaggs was arrested on February 7th.

    The Big Spring Herald reports that Scaggs, 36, was a passenger in a vehicle that stopped at the wagon wheel restaurant at at 2010 Scurry Street on Thursday evening.

    When the carhop brought he food to the vehicle, Scaggs allegedly refused to pay for the food.

    Scaggs reportedly reached for a knife in his waistband when the carhop demanded money.

    The driver of the vehicle reportedly paid for the meal and drove off, but witnesses say that Scaggs grabbed the wheel moments later and sent the vehicle into house in the 500 block of Owens Street.

    Scaggs was rushed to Scenic Mountain Medical Center, where he was treated for minor injuries after the crash.

    Scaggs was arrested after he was released from the hospital.

    Now, Scaggs is charged with aggravated robbery and criminal mischief (less than $20,000).
