Crane County Road To See Weeks Of Backups Due To Fog Sealing Work

CRANE COUNTY -- Extensive fog sealing work could cause major slowdowns on a road that connects southwest Ector County and Fort Stockton over the next month.

TXDOT workers will be fog sealing 28 miles of F.M. 1053 in Crane County in the next month.

The project is expected to start on February 19th, and it could take up to 3 weeks to complete.

Crews will be fog sealing the roadway between the Ector-Crane County line and Imperial during the daytime hours.

The road be limited to one lane for both directions as crews perform the work.

Flag crews will be set up at both ends of the work zone to stop traffic entirely, and traffic in alternating directions will follow a pilot vehicle through the zone.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area if possible, since there will be substantial delays.

The project is designed to seal small cracks in the road surface.

Fog sealing work prevents the cracks from getting larger, which would allow moisture to seep into the base of the road.

TXDOT crews say that the project will prolong both the life of the road and the life of the asphalt.
