New Director Of Engineering Services Named In Midland

MIDLAND -- The City of Midland has named a new Director of Engineering Services.

    Jose Ortiz will begin working as the Midland Director of Engineering Services on March 4th.

    The position has been filled on an interim basis by Midland Engineer David Beard since early 2013.

    Ortiz currently serves as Transportation Administrator for the Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division of the Department of Transportation for the City of Tucson (AZ).

    Ortiz has more than 15 years of experience in civil engineering.

    Ortiz has also worked for the City of Tucson for nearly 8 years.

    Prior to his work with the City of Tucson, Ortiz was a Project Engineer for Stantec Consulting's Transportation Division and a Traffic Engineering Technician for Pima County.

    Ortiz earned his Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Arizona in 1998.

    Ortiz became a Licensed Professional Engineer in 2003.
