REEVES COUNTY -- Some fog sealing work will lead to some lane closures at the western end of Interstate 20 this week.

TXDOT workers are fog sealing 14 miles of Interstate 20 in both directions.

The work will be performed between mile marker 5 and mile marker 9, as well as between mile marker 30 and mile marker 40.

Work will only be performed during the daytime hours, and the road will be open at night.

Work on the western segment of the project began Tuesday, and the remainder of the project is slated to get underway on February 13th.

The project is expected to last at least into next week, weather permitting.

While crews are fog sealing sections of the interstate, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction.

Flaggers and warning signs will also be present in the area, and drivers must obey all directions from both the flaggers and the signs.

The project is designed to seal small cracks in the road surface.

Fog sealing work prevents the cracks from getting larger, which would allow moisture to seep into the base of the road.

TXDOT crews say that the project will prolong both the life of the road and the life of the asphalt.
