Rep. Randy Neugebauer Responds to State of the Union

By: Rep. Randy Neugebauer
Updated: February 12, 2013
WASHINGTON, DC--Congressman Randy Neugebauer (R-TX) released the following statement in response to the President's State of the Union remarks.

"I was disappointed, but not surprised, by the President's remarks tonight.  He laid out a very liberal agenda that called for raising taxes, stricter gun control, and a greater focus on climate change.

"Meanwhile, our country is struggling under the weight of our $16 trillion debt, and he didn't present any real solutions for lightening that load.

"President Obama keeps telling us that government can solve our problems. We've tried that.  And we have more than $5 trillion in new debt thanks to his efforts.  How much more do taxpayers have to contribute to his vision of big government before he acknowledges that it isn't working?

"Instead of expanding government control, I'll work to empower the American people.  That's the best way to strengthen our economy, create jobs for West Texas families, and ensure a bright future for our children."
