Man Stabbed To Death During Altercation After Break-In At Midland Home

MIDLAND -- A Midland man is killed in an early morning stabbing.

    Nicholas Johnson died from stab wounds on Tuesday morning.

    Midland Police say that Johnson, Michael Andrew Sawyer, Marcus Hyson and Meagan Nicole Sparks broke into a home in the 700 block of Boyd Street around 1 AM Tuesday.

    Johnson, 22, Sawyer, 24, Hyson, 22, and Sparks, 22, reportedly broke into the home in order to attack resident Cody Ryan Booth.

    The accused burglars got into an altercation with Booth, 22, and police say Booth retrieved a knife to defend himself.

    Johnson was stabbed during the ensuing melee.

    Johnson was rushed to Midland Memorial Hospital, but he died shortly after he arrived at the hospital.

    Police arrested Sawyer, Hyson, Sparks and Booth after the incident.

    Sawyer, Hyson and Sparks are charged with burglary of a habitation with intent ot commit assault.

    Booth is charged with outstanding warrants for unrelated check theft charges.
   
    As of Tuesday evening, Sawyer, Hyson and Sparks were being held in the Midland County Detention Center without bond.

    Meanwhile, Booth was being held on $500 bond.

    Midland Police add that the Midland County District Attorney's Office will investigate possible homicide charges from the incident.

    Any possible homicide charges will likely be brought before a Midland County grand jury.
