Federal Pre-existing Program Suspended

Starting today, people with pre-existing conditions won't be able to sign up for health coverage under a federally-run plan.

The Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan suspends new enrollments into its program, Saturday, until further notice.

PCIP was created as a transitional program ahead of the 2014 implementaion of the Affordable Care Act.

More than 100-thousand people nationwide enrolled in the program.

For now, they will continue to be covered by the program.
