Officer Spots Apartment Fire in Midland

MIDLAND -- A Midland police officer spotted an apartment fire Sunday night. The fire happening at the Thornwood Apartments in the 2100 block of North A street.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to a downstairs office area and upstairs storage unit. No one was near where the fire originated. At this time investigators don't have a sure cause, but the building suffered heavy charring and smoke damage.

Scanner traffic initially reported, surrounding building were evacuated as a precaution.
