Russian Authorities Investigate Possible Murder In Gardendale

The adopted boy from Russia passed away here in his Gardendale home back in January.
But now several foreign media outlets like the Agence France Presse are reporting Russian Investigators claim Max was abused, and murdered by his adoptive mother Laura Shatto.
The Shattos did not want to comment on the situation, but the Kremlin's Envoy for Children says autopsy results show Max was beaten by Laura Shatto, and given Risperdal for several months.
Risperdal is a strong drug used to treat schizophrenia in adults.
The Ector County Sheriff's Department tells us they are actively looking into the case, but do not have the autopsy results that foreign media outlets are referring to.
They also stress that at this time no arrests have been made.
Meanwhile, the Russian Investigative Unit says they are examining the case, and may open a criminal probe after they look at all of the elements to the case.
This isn't the first time that Russia's had problems with adoptions in the United States.
Last December President of Russia Vladimir Putin issued this statement saying that, "The U.S. court system often simply does not react to crimes against adoptees, and frees people who carry out crimes against children from justice."
