New Mexico Men Accused Of Running Marijuana Through Big Bend In Tractor Plow

BREWSTER COUNTY -- Two New Mexicans are accused of running drugs through Brewster County in a tractor.

    Brewster County Sheriff's deputies pulled over a late model Dodge flatbed truck that was hauling a John Deere tractor plow through the southern part of Brewster County on February 17th.

    The two men in the flatbed truck allegedly told deputies different stories about what the tractor plow was being used for, and deputies called a K9 unit to the scene.

    The K9 unit reportedly spotted drugs in the tractor, and deputies seized both the tractor plow and the flatbed truck.

    Some contraband in the tractor plow tested positive for marijuana.
   
    The two men in the flatbed truck -- who are from New Mexico -- were then arrested at the scene.

    Deputies conducted additional tests on the tractor and plow hours later in Alpine.

    The tests indicated that more drugs were hidden in the farm equipment.

    Deputies later found more than 500 pounds of marijuana in metal containers located inside the plow's hollow beams.

    Deputies turned over the marijuana -- which took hours to extract -- to the Drug Enforcement Agency.
   
    Now, both men in the flatbed are facing drug trafficking charges.
