A war of words between Senator Marco Rubio and the White House over immigration reform is heating up.

Rubio is part of a group of eight Republican and Democratic senators trying to craft an immigration reform bill.

Tuesday, the press secretary for the Florida Republican put out an e-mail release stating President Obama and his staff were not working with congressional Republicans on immigration reform.

A White House spokesman denied the claim before the president himself got involved.

The White House says President Obama called Rubio and two other Republican senators to, quote, "discuss their shared commitment" to immigration reform.
