MIDLAND -- They say a picture is worth a 1,000 words.
So what is an entire art gallery worth?
ArtiZen is one of the newest art galleries in the area.
Open since November, it showcases local artists and the whole project started as a dream.
"Nina Noel, who is a photographer and teacher around here had a vision over the summer that she should put something like this together and it's been a huge gift for local artists," artist and co-manager Connie Glinsmann told Big 2.
The gallery features works from over 20 local artists and mediums include paint, photography, jewelry, sculptures and more.
They feature artwork for viewing, or if you're looking to purchase accent pieces, items are for sale.
One of the newest members of the gallery, Wayne Stratton has been a photographer since 1982, but said it all came together for him in 2006.
"I started following Jesus Christ. I didn't just believe in him, I followed him and that's when my whole life turned around," Stratton said.
Stratton specializes in High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography and landscapes, and loves the beauty that he finds in nature.
"I like looking for the beauty that God created in places where most people can't see it," Stratton continued.
Due to his eye for hidden beauty, the I-20 Wildlife Corridor chose to display Stratton's photos during their grand opening.
It's also what caught the eye of the jury at ArtiZen.
"We were very impressed with his ability to find beauty in an area where most people can't find it," Glinsmann said.
Stratton is just one of many talented artists whose artwork is on display at the ArtiZen Gallery.
