Now, the State of Texas is working to bring more affordable homes to the Tall City.
The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs has awarded a $3 million loan to help build Champion Homes at Tahoe Lake.
The complex -- which will be located near the intersection of Lamesa Road and interstate 20 -- will bring more than 150 apartment units to the Tall City.
T.D.H.C.A.officials say that at least 32 of the units must be made available for families whose income doesn't exceed 80 percent of the area's median family income (which is $53,000 for a family of four).
There's no word when ground will be broken on the new complex.
