MIDLAND -- Midland Representative Tom Craddick's No Texting While Driving Bill will be heard in committee in the Texas Capitol this week.

The Alex Brown Memorial Act is named for Alex Brown, a Wellman teenager who lost her life in a texting while driving crash.

Families from around the state who lost loved ones in similar crashes appeared in Austin in January to urge legislators to pass the Alex Brown Memorial Act.

On February 26th, Jennifer Zamora Johnson -- who lost her husband in a texting while driving crash -- will speak to the committee.

A similar bill banning texting and driving passed in the Texas Legislature in 2011, but Texas Governor Rick Perry vetoed the bill.
