Midland's robust economy has put more vehicles on city roads.
The increased volume has led to traffic problems.
Midland City Council members took the first step toward authorizing a citywide traffic study during their meeting Tuesday.
Midland City Council members approved a request for qualifications for professional services for the development of a traffic study.
Now the Midland City Manager's Office will be contacting potential firms to conduct a Midland traffic study.
"Hypothetically it was suggested, for example, lets look at possibly doing one-way streets," Midland City Councilman John Love told Big 2. "I'm sure there are other solutions as well that weren't mentioned, but we'll probably look at all of those."
Love says that once the Midland City Council selects the firm to conduct the traffic study, they'll have a better estimate of how long the project will take.
