ODESSA -- An Odessa man is accused of attacking his common-law wife with a knife.

Mark Dwayne Moya was arrested on February 27th.

Ector County Sheriff's deputies say that Moya, 39, cut his common-law wife's pinky finger with a kitchen knife at a home in the 8200 block of West 18th Street on February 20th or February 21st.

Moya also reportedly threatened to kill the woman in order to earn a reason to go back to prison.

Deputies say that Moya also kicked, punched and slapped the woman.

Moya even reportedly struck the woman with objects, dragged her across the floor by her hair and threw mouthwash in her eyes.

The woman ended up at Odessa Regional Medical Center after the carnage.

The entire attack reportedly occurred in violation of an emergency protective order that had been filed against Moya by the victim.

Now, Moya is charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and felony violation of a protective order.

As of Monday evening, Moya was being held in the Ector County Law Enforcement Center on $70,000 bond.
