There's no date, yet, for a conclave to select the next pope.
Cardinals meeting at the Vatican Monday ended their sessions without making a decision.
The cardinals met twice during the day, in the morning and in the evening.
After the evening session, most left by car, but some departed on foot.
Few spoke as they left the meeting.
Earlier Monday the Vatican spokesman said starting the conclave is on the table.
But cardinals haven't reached decision on when.
A new pope is expected to be announced before Easter and possibly as soon as March 15.
