Anti-Texting-And-Driving Bill To Move To Texas Senate Floor

The Alex Brown Memorial Act has passed the Texas House Committee on Transportation.
The bill is named after Wellman teen Alex Brown, who lost her life in a texting while driving crash.
The bill was filed by Midland Representative Tom Craddick in February, after several relatives of texting and driving victims appeared in Austin to support it.
Now, the bill will go to the House Calendars Committee to be considered for floor debate.
A similar anti-texting and driving bill passed in 2011, but the bill was ultimately vetoed by Texas Governor Rick Perry.
